Clermont Real Estate Information

A small suburb of the capital city area, Clermont, Indiana, is a town on the northwest outskirts of Indianapolis, about 15 miles away. It lies conveniently located just off Interstate 74 split among Pike and Wayne townships, Marion County and makes up an area of less than one square mile.

As of estimates taken in July 2007, the population of the town was near 1,500. Residents here have an annual median household income, also as of 2007, of almost $60,000, and an estimated median home value of almost $125,000. The town is considered an “included city” of Indianapolis and was incorporated into its consolidated government system in 1970. Clermont does, however, still maintain its own town government structure as well.

Construction, health care, finance and insurance are the biggest industries in which the largest number of people living here are employed. The nearest hospital is just about 7 miles away in Indianapolis. The city is most widely known as the home to O'Reilly Raceway Park at Indianapolis, a fast short-track oval that is home to one of the most popular drag racing events in the country, the U.S. Nationals. The city is just south of Eagle Creek Reservoir, with Eagle Creek Park and Eagle Creek Golf Course, and is near to the Country Club of Indianapolis.

Many residents are fans of and enjoy rooting for Indianapolis’s two local sports franchises: The Indianapolis Colts of NFL football and the Indiana Pacers of NBA basketball. The Colts play at Lucas Oil Stadium and the Pacers play at Conseco Fieldhouse. There is also a minor-league baseball team, the Indianapolis Indians, who play at Victory Field downtown. Other sites to see in Indianapolis include the country’s largest children’s museum, theaters, performances, concerts and art museums and galleries. Indianapolis Motor Speedway, home to the world-famous Indy 500, is south of the city and the Indiana State Fair is held every summer for two weeks in the area.
