Greenwood Real Estate Information

A midsized suburb of the capital city, Greenwood, Indiana, lies within the confines of Johnson County, just 12 miles south of Indianapolis. It makes up an area of just over 14 square miles, and was estimated in 2007 to be home to a population of almost 50,000 residents, who have a median annual household income of almost $50,000.

Greenwood is conveniently located just off I-65 and right along Highway 31, which runs north-south throughout the entire state. The largest employers in the city include Endress & Hauser, Inc., United Natural Foods, Nachi Technology, Inc. and Aldi, Inc.

The primary school system for students living in Greenwood is the Greenwood Community Schools district, which include a high school, a middle school and four elementary school. However, some students living on the fringes of the city may attend other school districts nearby, including the Center Grove and Clark-Pleasant School corporations. There are learning centers in Greenwood run by both Indiana Tech and ITT Technical Institute. The city has two libraries and art institute, and there is a weekly farmers market held on Saturdays where residents can buy and sell produce and other foods.

The city is home to the Greenwood Park Mall, Valle Vista Golf Course, Smock Golf Course, Craig Park, University Park, Freedom Park and several other small parks. The city has a community center and pool, and has its own community band. Annually, the Greenwood Freedom Festival is celebrated in town. The Greenwood Summer Concert Series is held outdoors each summer at the Greenwood Amphitheater. The community has its own municipal airport and the IndyGO bus system provides routes around the area. Within a five-mile radius residents and visitors have access to Community Hospital South and St. Francis Hospital & Health Center.
