A small, suburban community less than 10 miles north of the capital city, Meridian Hills, Indiana, is a quaint and close-knit town. The town is home to less than 2,000 residents among about 700 homes in its two square miles. The town was established in 1937 after home construction began there in the ‘20s and its country club opened in 1923. Meridian Hills lies within the boundaries of Washington Township in Marion County.

Median annual household income in Meridian Hills far exceeds that of any state or local averages, at almost $120,000 a year, as of estimates in 2007. Large numbers of residents of this area are employed as either lawyers or executives. Though the community exists as “included town” incorporated into Indianapolis and its government, the local town government does provide its own supplemental police officers to serve and protect area residents.

The city borders Holiday Park and Marrott Park, and is very close to and within easy access of the Monon Trail and Broad Ripple, the district in Indianapolis famous for its nightlife, with many bars, clubs and restaurants. It also is home to the Meridian Hills Country Club, with opportunities to enjoy activities like golf, tennis and swimming.

Schools in the community are administered through the Washington Township Schools, which includes eight elementary schools, three middle schools, one high school and two alternative programs. There is also the private Park Tudor School system, which has single lower, middle and upper-level schools. The community lies centrally located, just two miles from nearest hospital in Indianapolis and just a few minutes from a number of colleges and universities, both two- and four-year institutes. The community also has a number of Catholic, Protestant and Jewish religious houses of worship.
